Kat and Zane’s wedding day was the perfect combination of heartfelt moments, happy tears, a little Kansas weather drama, and plenty of celebration!
The morning began with Kat and Zane getting ready alongside their closest family and bridal party. There was something so special about having everyone together before the festivities officially began—lots of laughter, excitement, and those quiet moments of anticipation before saying “I do.”
One of my favorite parts of the day was getting to photograph Kat’s first look with her dad. It was such a sweet and intimate moment between the two of them, followed by Kat and Zane’s first look. Seeing their reactions when they finally saw each other for the first time was absolutely priceless!
After the first looks, we dove right into bride and groom portraits, bridal party photos, and family pictures. And then, because apparently Kansas wanted to make sure we earned our wedding photographer badges, the wind started picking up and the rain came pouring down—literally right as we finished family photos!
The rain meant we had to push back the outdoor ceremony for a little while, but thankfully, we got the break we needed. Kat and Zane were able to have the outdoor ceremony they had hoped for at The Brownstone in Topeka, KS. We may have gotten sprinkled on a little, but honestly, it just became another fun part of their wedding day story!
Once the ceremony wrapped up, it was time to celebrate! The reception at The Brownstone was filled with heartfelt speeches, plenty of happy tears, and guests who were more than ready to get the party started. It was so much fun watching Kat and Zane soak up the excitement and celebrate with the people who mean the most to them.
And then came the grand finale—because Mother Nature apparently wanted one last surprise. Within minutes of us leaving, the clouds cleared and the sky opened up to reveal the most beautiful sunset. Talk about perfect timing! After a day full of changing weather, that gorgeous sunset felt like the sweetest little send-off for Kat and Zane.
Kat and Zane, your wedding day was such a joy to photograph. From the rain-soaked ceremony to that incredible sunset at the end of the night, your day was filled with moments that made it completely your own. Thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding and allowing me to be part of such a special chapter in your lives. I’m so grateful I got to celebrate with you both!
